So with race season upon us I realized that I really hadn’t talked about my race schedule this year. To be honest, there really wasn’t much to speak of on that list until recently. After MCM last year, I kind of just lost my running spark, and excitement to race. I promised
myself my husband that I wouldn’t run a marathon this year after completing 3 in a one year time frame. I know that may not seem like a lot to many, but it meant I was in training for 3 seasons in a row. I wasn’t doing these races one after another in the same season like a lot of people do. So I got burnt out. So burnt in fact that it is almost 5 months later and I am NOW just starting to get interested in running another race. So I’ve put together my race schedule and some active race discounts and thought I would share!!
Rock N Roll DC–March 12
I’ve run this race twice now, 2013 and 2015. This one wasn’t on the radar this year, but when I got asked back to be a Rock N Blogger I had to add it to the list. I’m going to be checking out the VIP package this year too. It’s always seemed a bit pricey to me and have never invested, but as a Rock N Blogger I’m given the opportunity to partake in the VIP once, so this is the one I picked. I’ll let ya’ll know how it is and if it’s worth the $$!!
And look at this medal!! Isn’t it awesome?!
Shamrock Half Marathon–March 20
This was originally going to be my goal race for the year. This is my the location of my half marathon PR 2 years ago, so I desperately wanted to try and PR again but I just don’t think it’s in the cards this time around. My training has been nothing more than lackluster, so I plan to pray for good weather and enjoy this incredibly fun race! I’m hoping I get to chat with Bart Yasso again this year. That was definitely a highlight for me in 2014! And they have some awesome swag for finishers!
Marine Corp 17.75K–April 2
This race was not on my radar at all until the day before registration. I decided that if I wasn’t going to be doing MCM that I really wanted to still run a race put on by the Marines. I’ve never done this one and heard great things about it, so I was one of the lucky ones that was able to register in under the 4 minutes in which it sold out. Yes, I will get the golden ticket to a guaranteed entry to MCM, but I will be giving it to someone else! Let me tell you though, it’s going to be tough to give it away. Every once in a while, as I see the excitement brewing for MCM again, there is a little part of me that questions if I shouldn’t do it. My husband would KILL me. This is supposed to be HIS year to do it.
GW Parkway 10 Miler–April 24
I’ve done this in 2013, 2014, and 2015 (oops, didn’t write a race recap for this one). It’s always on my calendar and one of my favorite local races along the beautiful Potomac River and on the George Washington Parkway!
Fit Foodie 5K--May 21
I was just invited back as a Fit Foodie Race Ambassador this year! I am super excited about this. I didn’t get to participate last year because I was out of town, but I was an Ambassador in 2014 with Courtney, Salt, Erika, and Cynthia and we had an absolute blast. So many great new things this year though.
- Mingle with with elite athletes “Boston Bill” Rogers, four-time Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon Champion, and Caroline Rotich, winner of the 2015 Boston Marathon
- The new John Hancock Vitality Village post-race celebration featuring fitness demonstrations from acclaimed talent, cooking demonstrations, and more
- The Fit Foodie Premium Package, which includes an official Fit Foodie participation tank, a $5 tax-deductible donation to the Fit Foodie Official Charity, and more
Seriously, who is going to come and run this super fun race with me???!!

As an Ambassador for the Zooma Women’s Running series, I’ll be doing either the 10K or the Half marathon. I was an Ambassador in 2014 and ran the 10K which I really enjoyed but I haven’t quite decided yet!

Old Port Half Marathon–July 10
I’ve always wanted to do a race when I’m back at home visiting my family so I added this one to my list and I will be running with my best friend from high school and pacing her in her first half marathon! I’m soooo excited!
Ragnar Relay DC–September 16-17
The No Drama Mamas are coming back for another round of Ragnar! We are super excited and hoping for a much drier race this year!
Rock N Roll Vegas Half Marathon–November 12-13
After last years experience this one is a no brainer. My MIL lives in Vegas and I think I’ve convinced my hubby to do this one with me. I figure we can make it a family affair, take the kids, leave them with grammie and we can go run. Oh and maybe hit the run through wedding and renew our vows for our 10th anniversary?! That one is going to take a little convincing. I think it is hilarious and super cheesy, but my hubby is not so enthused about the idea. We’ll see…
Rehoboth Marathon–December 3
Ok, ok. I know I said no marathons this year, but TECHNICALLY this race would be OVER a year since my last marathon. One of my BRF’s is running and she is trying to convince me to do it. Seriously though, if I get into grad school, there will be no marathons for THREE, yes, THREE years because of how intense the program is, so I need to get one last one in to get to a round number of 5 marathons right?! Right?
There are still a few races that are up in the air:
- Rock N Roll Brooklyn–October 8
- Army 10 miler–October 9
So, i’m crossing my fingers that I stay healthy and injury free so I can actually participate in all of these!!My 2016 race schedule and some #race discounts! via @suzy399 #zoomarun #fitfoodierun Click To Tweet
