Hey everyone!! Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve and holiday with your families! Not sure why but staying up til midnight and getting tipsy doesn’t quite have the same appeal as it once did. It could have to do with the fact that the kids still get up at ass crack of dawn despite how much partying and sleeping in the parents do or want. I did actually get to ring in the New Year, at work….yep, New Year’s was my holiday but I’m totally cool with that! I’m sure if I had been at home I would have been in bed by 9pm.
Anyway, I’m linking up with Tricia and Holly for the Weekly Wrap again this week. I’m going to warn you though, your head may hit the table from boredom this week, because there was a whole lot of nothing going on here….
Well, let me just start by saying it is a good thing that I made a big math error in my mileage total last week because I ended up in Urgent care last Monday because of my bronchitis. My mom (who is also a nurse), convinced me to call my doctor to be seen. They couldn’t get me in so I had to go to urgent care which as it turns out was a good thing. My cough was getting worse, and I was wheezing and when I got seen, my oxygen saturation was 89-90% (normal being 98-100%). I got a chest xray as well to rule out pneumonia and luckily I did NOT have pneumonia.
I ended up walking out of there with a week of oral steroids and an inhaler and strict orders to let my lungs rest and NOT run. So like I said, good thing I made that math error because I would have missed my goal had I not! So there you have it. No running, no workouts, nada. Just rest all week.
My immune system seems to like to take a nose dive as soon as I finish marathon training. This happened to me last year after MCM as well. Maybe that is a sign that I shouldn’t take a break from the marathon after all?
So I rested all week, then went to work on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Got home from work on New Year’s day and pretty much slept all afternoon and then hung out with the family. It’s been a little rough around here over the last week or so. The boys really need their routine back….oh who am I kidding…I need their routine back too!
Saturday was a lot of laundry, cleaning, etc and then we had dinner at a friends house.
Sunday the weather was beautiful. I wanted to run terribly but promised myself I would take a full week off, so we went on a family bike ride instead, something that didn’t take too much lung capacity
I’m feeling much better now, well, at least my cough has resolved for the most part. Now I have some sort of sinus thing going on. You know when your sinuses hurt so bad when you bend your head down? Yea, that’s where I’m at right now. I’m hoping to get back to it starting today, but we’ll see what happens. I’m just ready to get back to normal. I’ve been eating terribly and binging on sugar like crazy. It’s time to turn things around.
I’m excited because I’m going to be starting Laura’s 21-day reset for runners next week! I’ve done one of Laura’s reset’s before and really enjoyed it, so I’m excited for this one especially since it’s geared towards runners and strength training (which I need)!
Well, I won’t bore you any more than I need to, but just one last quick reminder. If you haven’t signed up for the Zooma Run Love Challenge virtual race yet, there are only 85 spots left! Seriously, if you want some AWESOME swag, you don’t want to miss out on this virtual run! There is a great group of ladies signed up so far and it’s been fun interacting with everyone in the Facebook accountability group!
I hope ya’ll have an awesome week!!
Do you ever get sick after finishing an intense training cycle?
Anyone else doing Laura’s reset also?
