Well hey guys! I feel like I have been away forever! Thank you so much to Nat, Hollie, Wendy and Lauren for taking over for me over the last few weeks. It was really awesome to have some well needed family time and a break from the blog. I thought I would fill you in on a bit of what we have been up to! I’m also linking up with Tricia and Holly for the Weekly Wrap!
So when the girls took over the blog, we went on a Disney Cruise! We haven’t ever had a family vacation (with the exception of visiting family, so I don’t count that). It was a complete surprise for the boys. I have been planning for 6 months and let me tell you how hard it was to keep a secret! They didn’t know what we were doing until we arrived at the port to get on the ship! So fun to surprise them!
We had such an awesome time…….that is until the stomach bug hit…
Oh yea. Mr. Cupcake was convinced it was seasickess but I knew we brought it on board. About 30 minutes after we boarded the ship my youngest told me that a kid in his class went home puking the day we left for our trip. We lost a good 3 days quarantined in our room, but thankfully were able to salvage the other 4 days. Let me just say it is NOT fun to have the stomach bug on a cruise ship. Thank goodness our room had a balcony!
I won’t give a full review of the cruise, but let’s just say Disney knows how to do it right! Here are a few pics…
Oh and we got to see the new Star Wars movie the day before the official release!
Anyway, despite the bug, we had a fantastic time on the days that everyone was feeling ok. I had big plans to get a lot of running and gym time in and even a 5K at Castaway Cay, but sadly only one 3 mile run happened the day after we arrived.
We arrived home about 4 days before Christmas so the scrambling to get everything ready began. Note to self….don’t go on vacation the week before Christmas! To stressful when you get home!
When I finally had a chance to breathe I decided to check in with my yearly miles and see how I was doing to achieve my 1,000 miles for the year. I have been trying for the last 2 years to hit 1,000 miles and have come up short every time. So I knew this year I had a good chance (especially with 2 marathons). When I tallied them up I had 959! AHHH!! 41 short!! So, while I don’t believe in run streaking, I am now in the midst of a run streak, running 4 miles a day so I can hit that 1,000 mark by New Years Eve! 4 miles doesn’t sound like that much, but I’ve also been struggling with bronchitis and needing an inhaler. So I’ve been getting the runs in but they haven’t been pretty. Mr Cupcake is NOT happy that I’m running whilst having this nasty cough, but I am too close to give up now!
We had a wonderful Christmas and are totally swimming in LEGO’s. We didn’t do too much in terms of gifts this year because of the cruise, but the grandparents totally spoiled the boys.
I even got a Christmas day run in OUTSIDE and got to try on my new wireless headphones that the Mr Cupcake got me. So far I am LOVING them. I couldn’t believe I was wearing a skirt and tank top on Christmas day?! Unheard of!
I worked Saturday night and didn’t get much sleep on Sunday unfortunately. I was exhausted but dragged my butt onto the treadmill to get in 2 more miles towards my 1,000. While I was on there I got to thinking how I couldn’t believe I was coming up that short on my mileage, especially with running two marathons this year. So when I got off, I decided to do the math and tally up my miles again. I have used a combination of my garmin log and a paper log to keep track, and I’m much more loyal to my paper log…yea, I know, I’m totally old school. Anyway, I went back and added it all up again and found a HUGE math error. My 2 miles ended up putting me at 1,001 miles!! I’ve got to say I’m totally relieved. This is exactly why I don’t run streak, because I hate feeling like I am FORCED to run. And I’m also glad because this bronchitis seems to be getting worse and I’m worried there may be some sort of pneumonia going on. Hopefully I can get a few more miles in this week, but if not…oh well, I’m part of the 1000 miles club for the first time EVER!!
Anyway….Lots of blog things to catch up on now that the holiday is over! I’m looking forward to getting back into the groove!
A few things that I found out before I took a hiatus!! I’m super excited to be a Zooma Ambassador again this year! Stay tuned for a discount code! More to come on that! And I’ve also been asked back as a Nuunbassador! Yay! Ya’ll know I LOVE my Nuun!
Well, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season with your families and I can’t wait to see what is in store for 2016!!
Have you ever gotten sick on vacation?
Did you get any running gear for Christmas?
