Hey everyone! How are ya’ll? My blogging has really been cut back recently as I’m sure you have noticed. These kids are just draining everything out of me!! They are so incredibly busy and need to be entertained every second of the day. Mini #1 starts school this week though, so hopefully that will ease a little of the pressure. He goes to a year round school, so that’s why he starts so early. I seriously can’t believe my baby is going into FIRST grade! Ahhh! Where has the time gone??
Just a note. I’ve been working on a new theme for the blog and there are a few things that are still being worked on, so please bear with me, as it’s still a work in progress!
Anyway, here’s a look back at my MCM training recap for the week. It was actually a really great week for workouts and for extracurricular activities!
recovery run 2.2 miles in 20 min (9:05 pace), gear 1 followed by 40 min Piyo sweat
30 min run, gear 1, 3.4 miles in 30:10 ( 8:52 pace)
We took the kids to see the Minions movie in the afternoon. Has anyone seen it? It was funny for sure and the kids loved it.
60 min run, gear 1
Since I had switched one of my runs last week, thais was my 5th day in a row to run which is VERY unusual for me. I’m used to only running 3 days a week. Needless to say this run was tough. I had tired legs and my 60 minute run turned into a 50 minute run because I was just exhausted. 5.5 miles complete in 51 minutes (9:16 pace)
Can I just tell you I have the best husband ever. Every few years one of my good friends and I go away for a few days for a little girls getaway. Usually it’s just a staycation, somewhere close to home, but still “away” from the kids. Mr. Cupcakes job is going to be changing which means a lot of travel so
I think he sensed I told him that I need a little R & R before that all started. So my friend Kristen and I hit the road and drove to the Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, VA for a little getaway. They had a smoking deal on a “girls getaway” rate which included two 50 minute spa treaments! We left in the morning and headed out. We got there way before check-in so we went to an Outlet mall close by and window shopped. After about an hour we decided to head to the resort to see if we could check in early. Lucky for us, they had a room ready to go! It was a great room on the top floor of the resort with an amazing view. Unfortunately it was raining.
We didn’t have much to do so we literally hung out in our room, ate fruit and cheese and drank margaritas. Cheers!
That night we took a drive into Downtown Leesburg and went to this cute wine bar called Wine Kitchen. We enjoyed some nice flights of bubbly!
I had a tempo run scheduled, so I hit the resort gym. This is one of the nicest gyms I’ve ever seen at a resort…check this out..
I got my tempo run in and as I was cooling down in the gym, I noticed a class going on. I just peeked my head into the room to see what was going on and totally got busted by the instructor. He insisted I come in and do the TRX class with him and two other ladies. I protested as I was supposed to meet my friend in the room so we could hit the pool. Well, he wouldn’t take no for an answer, so in addition to my 3.3 miles of tempo work, I did an HOUR TRX class. I’ve used the TRX bands before for isolated exercises but never for a full class and holy hell was it hard!! I was exhausted by the end. But now it makes me want a TRX SO BAD!!!
Anyway, after my unplanned hour and a half workout we hit the pool! I must say it was so incredibly amazing to relax at the pool and do nothing. I read a book, worked on some blog stuff and just relaxed..
Ahhhhh, pure bliss. I had a massage in the afternoon and then used the hot tub for some more relaxation and I was one happy mama. We stayed at the pool until 8pm.
Check out this sunset from our room!
REST We drove home in the morning and I reunited with my boys by playing baseball with them all afternoon!
85 min run @ Gear 1
Well, I did it. For the first time in 2 months, I dragged my lazy butt out of bed at 5am to do my long run….OUTSIDE. I know I’m just as shocked. Seriously. But I must say, thank goodness I did because it renewed my motivation. I’ve been a slave to the mill for the last few months because of life circumstances. But I’m so glad I had the opportunity to get out there. The humidity was fairly low (well, lower than it has been) and it really just felt like a great run!! I ended up with 9 miles in 86 min (9:33 pace).
I really felt awesome after this run which is good, because I NEEDED it to go well. I followed it up with my favorite protein recovery shake!
As soon as I arrived home the boys started begging me to take them for a run. How could I say no?
There was a lot of whining and crying during this 1 mile unfortunately. Mini #2 kept crying because Mini #1 was “beating him” on the run. Let’s just say a mile took a LONG time. Oh well, the family that runs together stays together….right?!
Total Miles: 23.4
