Well, it’s been another uneventful week in the workout department for me. I’m kind of getting tired of saying that. I’ve been resting my hip, a lot. I’m still having discomfort, especially when sitting. I saw my amazing massage therapist this week and he doesn’t think this is IT band related. He was able to get rid of the pain for me briefly by hitting a pressure point in my low back. He seems to think that some hip/core/glute muscles haven’t been engaging properly causing my TFL to work in overdrive and essentially be over used causing inflammation and therefore the burning sensation on the outside of my hip (hello run-on sentence). I spent a lot of time this week icing, resting and rolling. I did manage to get to a spin class once and a yoga class but that’s about it. It’s got me a little nervous as I’m supposed to start MCM training in a few weeks.
So a few things happened this week…and I think I’ll do my little weekly recap with Tara from Running N Reading via photos today!
Mr. and Mini #1 had their last baseball game of the season this week
thank goodness. I had no plans on baking but my mom had sent me a photo of a cupcake cake for baseball, and it inspired me…and I had NOTHING else to do, right? Hahaha….riiiighhhtt. But I couldn’t resist, so…
The kids loved it!
The rest of the week was super hot and humid.
It was hot, the boys were wild…this was necessary…
But apparently the alcohol content is too high? This is what I got after 4 days in the freezer . So sad. But it was great as a slushie!
Then this happened…
Yep, my first shattered iPhone. I’ve actually had a pretty good track record. I’ve had an iPhone since the very first generation and have never broken one until this week. And no, I know what you are thinking…the Lime-a-Rita Popsicles had nothing to do with this mishap.
One of the most exciting things this week…I finally got a treadmill. You all know how much I LOVE the treadmill. I’ve written about it several times HERE and HERE and I’ve been wanting one for-ever. My husband has been shooting me down for the last few years but I FINALLY convinced him it was necessary. I had been saving up for a while and it’s finally here! Sad to say that I haven’t even gone for a run on it yet because of this pesky hip. It’s like having a
cupcake carrot dangling in front of your face, it’s just not fair!
I’m not TOO excited, can you tell?
Now to convince my kids it’s not a jungle gym. We had to put it in their playroom that they never use. But of course now that it’s down there they want to play in that room all the time. Should be interesting. I’ve already caught Mini #2 scaling it like it’s a rock wall when it’s folded up. Whomp whomp.
On Saturday I got to attend a super fun event. I was contacted by the PR people at the Four Season Washington DC to see if I wanted to participate in their Global Wellness Day…how could I turn THAT down? A morning at the spa of the Four Seasons? YES PLEASE! I won’t go into a lot of detail because it was so fun I wanted to dedicate an entire post to it. So stay tuned on Wednesday for my recap!
And it was the perfect time to try out my new water bottle from Diatta at Femme Fit Fatale! She just came out with these awesome infusion bottles with drink tracker! I’ve never had one of these and have been dying to, so I bought one for myself. Totally loving it. You can get one HERE! I need to get a little more adventurous with my flavors though.
I worked night shift on Saturday night and then slept most of my day away on Sunday, so nothing too exciting there.
This coming week is the boys’ last week of school so I’ll be scrambling to get a bunch of stuff done before it ends on Friday! Not sure how the workouts are going to go. I’ll probably rest another few days and then see my chiro on Wednesday and see what he says. Hopefully I can get a short run in to see how it goes and hopefully a yoga class. Fingers crossed! Hope ya’ll have a great week!
