So I actually got to participate in something really cool this weekend. I was contacted earlier in the week by the PR folks at the Four Seasons Washington to participate in Global Wellness Day.
Global Wellness Day is an international initiative that focuses on the importance of wellness and includes everything from exercise and beauty treatments to the harmony between body and spirit. The Four Seasons is one of the largest luxury spa operators in the world (I had no idea!), and mare very focused on health and wellness as a corporation and are committed to offering their guests the best chemical free products and treatments.
So, when the Four Seasons contacted me I was shocked. How in the world did they even know my blog? I mean I’ve never even set foot in a Four Seasons. Let’s face it, it’s one of the top luxury hotels in the world and it isn’t cheap. It is WAY over our budget, so this was pretty exciting and a little extravagant for me. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to go initially because Mr. Cupcake was out of town and due back late Friday night. I was worried that he would be late getting back, but he promised me he would be back in time.
The event at Four Seasons Washington started with their Run My City Program. They recently started this 3-6 mile tour of DC for their guests. Guests run with the General Manager of the hotel and run past the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Korean War Memorial, WWII memorial and many more before returning to the hotel for muffins and their Green Goddess juice. Unfortunately, since I’ve been resting my hip, I chose to not participate in the run.
I drove into Georgetown around 7:30am and was invited to valet park my at at the hotel. I was escorted by the Concierge to the spa where I met Liliana, director of Public Relations for the hotel.
She was so sweet and welcoming and I felt like I had known her forever. She showed me to the locker room in the spa where I put my my bag and I joined a few of the other bloggers who would be participating as well!
Around 8am we went outside down the back path to the grass by the C&O Canal where we would be doing “sunrise” yoga.
It was a very warm and humid morning but as soon as we started our sun salutations I didn’t even think about it. The sounds of the birds chirping and the water running in the canal sent me to my happy place. The only thing I could think about was that I need to convince Mr. Cupcake to send me on a health and wellness retreat!
After yoga we went to an outdoor patio area where we got to chat and enjoy muffins and their Green Goddess juice.
It was delicious!
After muffins and juice we went to the restaurant for breakfast. We got the chance to sit and chat with everyone and got a cute little surprise!
Yep, that’s my face on a piece of dark chocolate! So fun!
I followed that up with the Four Seasons signature Lemon Ricotta pancakes. To.die.for. Pretty sure I chose the most unhealthy item on the menu…not pictured…the plate of bacon on the side that I ate ALL of.
I got to meet some local DC bloggers as well!
After breakfast we all had appointments in the spa for a Jane Iredale mineral makeup event where we got makeovers! While I was waiting for my turn I was invited to utilize the sauna and showers if I desired. I didn’t bring a change of clothes which I was kicking myself for. I mean I missed the opportunity to take a shower in a luxury spa…by myself…with no children interrupting?! Major fail on my part. Oh well, you learn from your mistakes I guess. I went and sat In a lounge chair outside on their deck with a glass of pineapple mint infused water. Yum!
There was even organic sunscreen to use out on the patio. You KNOW I was all over that, especially after my recent skin cancer post!
It was finally my turn! I had never heard of Jane Iredale makeup. Well, let’s face it, I don’t own much makeup so I don’t know many makeup lines. And if I do wear makeup it is mascara, eyeliner and a little blush. I very rarely wear a foundation. I had never heard of mineral makeup before. This is the first makeup line developed to have skin care benefits also. Her mineral powders are a foundation, powder, concealer and sunscreen all in one. Sounds pretty cool to me. I loved the result of my “mini makeover” because it was just light and fresh and made my skin seem brighter (although I think I have to credit Rodan & Fields for some of that). I did end up purchasing a few of the products that Gavin used on me to include a face illuminating primer which literally gave my skin this amazing glow, a hydration spray to set the makeup which also contains essential oils, and 24 karat gold dust for my cheeks.
It was a super fun and relaxed morning and I was so grateful to even be invited!! If you ever have the chance to go to a Four Season spa or fitness club…do it. The amenities were amazing. Thank you Four Seasons for having us!!#globalwellnessday at @fswashington was amazing. Check out the recap via @suzy399 #fswellness #fswashington Click To Tweet
*I was invited to attend this event but was NOT required to write a review or promote the Four Seasons hotel. I just want to share my experience with you all!*
