Seriously, the weeks are flying by and school is almost over and it feels like things just keep getting busier and busier! I have about 20 posts drafted and can’t seem to find the time to finish them! I saw the topic for the Friday 5 with Mar, Courtney and Cynthia this week and I knew I just had to give my two cents, especially since I did some organizing last weekend! So here goes, linking up for the Friday Five!
My organization skills have taken a long time to develop. If you asked my husband he would probably say that I’m not very organized and I admit, that WAS the case at one time. But I’ve slowly gotten better as we’ve accumulated more stuff. Yes, I do have a tendency to put things down and forget about them for awhile, but that’s just part of being a busy mom. Mr. Cupcake insists that everything has it’s place, which it does, I agree, but I’m far from perfect in this department and I know that irritates the heck out of him. Recently however, I’ve accumulated more running gear and I’ve HAD to become more organized in my closet. So I thought I would share how I organize all of my stuff at home. Some of it ain’t pretty, not going to lie, but there are a few areas that I have been doing pretty well in! Check it out. Please note, there are some affiliate links in this post.
I used to fold everything and put it in a bin such as this…
And while this works, a lot of things get wrinkled and it’s just annoying to put things in neatly. So, I got some Skirt/pant hangers. I’m in love and I can’t believe I waited this long to organize my pants and skirts!!
Seriously, a HUGE space saver!! Life changing.
My collection of shoes is growing, and as I’ve learned in the past I need to do a better job of keeping track of the mileage on them so my calf issues don’t flare up. I’ve tried the Milestone pod which has been great and I still use it, but I’ve become obsessive over it and have started charting in another location too. I just discovered this feature! The “gear” section on Garmin Connect! Mind. Blown.
I also keep all of my shoes in their original boxes. It keeps me from losing one, or having my boys try them on and leaving them in random places around the house. When I get home from my run, back in the box they go!
And if anyone is reading from Asics, yes, I’m addicted to your shoes, if you are looking for any amateur non-elite sponsored athletes….CALL ME….MMMMMM K?
I’m lucky that we have enough cabinet storage….. I get one whole shelf just for my hydration and fueling choices! It doesn’t always look like this however, don’t be fooled!
And last but certainly not least, and not quite considered fitness gear, but it helps me stay organized…a fitness journal. I may be a little obsessive compulsive because I document on Daily Mile, Garmin Connect, and in a paper journal. Right now I use a free gift from Runner’s World that I got when I signed up for my magazine subscription. Low frills and pretty basic. It definitely does the job, but recently Journal Menu reached out to me to see if I wanted to check out one of their custom journals. I custom designed the front and back cover with the colors and wording that I wanted!
Not only do they do running journals, but they also do all sorts of fitness journals as well for weightlifting, yoga, biking etc!
The running journal has a place for goals, physical measurements, sample training plans and blank space to fill in YOUR training plan, pages for race reports, PR’s, food journaling and daily run logs! I’m in love with this journal! It retails for $24.99 which I think is a steal for a completely customized journal.
Want to know the exciting part? Journal Menu wants to give one of my readers their very own customized journal!! All you have to do is use the rafflecopter below!
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! We’ve got a big weekend of baseball, birthday parties and night shift! Can I get a whooo hoo! Enjoy!
