So listen, I’ve been talking about how out of touch with fashion I have gotten since I became a serious runner. I used to be quite the “fashionista” as my family used to say. But then the kids came along. I SWORE I wouldn’t lose my sense of style and become a frumpy mom, but, alas, it happened (as far as “real” clothes go). Downfalls of being a stay at home mom I guess and having a job where you only wear scrubs!
I’ve developed an addiction to workout gear now since I practically live in them. I’m not kidding when I say I probably put on a pair of real pants maybe once a month. It’s a good thing workout clothes have come a long way in the last 20 years. The colors, the patterns and different styles are so amazing that I want everything in sight. It is now the way I express myself. If I’m going to wear it all of the time, I want to at least buy pieces that are cute right? My husband can’t understand why I would buy a pair of running capris for $70 or a tank for $60. And yes, I agree, things have definitely gotten pricey, but if I wear these pieces over and over again, to me the price is worth the quality.
Soybu is a company based out of Denver that makes high quality performance apparel for women. They have a simple vision–

We blend eco-friendly fibers into our long-lasting apparel with minimal impact on the environment, always keeping our planet in mind.”
I’m always looking for gear that is not only functional for my workouts but for pieces that I can also wear to run errands with the boys or to the playground without looking like I just came from the gym.
These pieces do that, super cute, fun colors and high performing!
Soybu contacted me and asked if I wanted to try out a few of their pieces! (I was not compensated monetarily for this review, but I was sent three items to review. As usual all opinions expressed are my own.)
I was asked to pick out three pieces to try. The first item that I was immediately drawn to were the Sylvie Capri ($75) , seriously, my new favorite capri. They are made out of their “power FLEX” fabric and are super moisture wicking and are very quick drying. One of the big tests for me and capris is whether or not they stay up when I’m running or working out and whether I have to constantly adjust them. I’m happy to report that these babies didn’t budge. And although they aren’t considered compression tights (or at least they aren’t referred to as that on the website) they certainly felt like a compression tight. I felt sucked in in all the right places!
They have awesome stitching on the bum that is super flattering as well. My bum is the area that needs the most help, so the more slimming the better, and these do that. The seams are so perfectly placed, they were amazing.
On top I tried out the Alecia Tank ($46). What I LOVED about this tank was the amazing ruching in the front. My tummy area is another area that I’m super self conscious of and I don’t like things that accentuate the excess skin that I have from having two babies. The ruching totally takes care of that. It ruches in all the right places if you ask me and is super flattering. I can wait to get this one in some more colors!
And the gorgeous criscross back provides enough support that the girls aren’t jiggling all around. Now I’m not sure it has enough support for running, however, it is definitely my go to top for crosstraining that doesn’t involve a lot of bouncing such as spin, weight lifting or yoga.
And finally to top it off (literally) the Jacinda Pullover ($75). It’s still pretty chilly here in the DC area so this is the perfect top to put on over my Alecia tank to keep the chill away and take the workout outfit to my running errands look. Pretty cute, don’t you think?
I was really impressed by the quality of the clothing as well. They are comparable to other high end workout wear in terms of price, maybe slightly lower. I loved the fit, the material and the cuteness factor.
