How many of you like juice? I’ll admit, I’m not a big juice person. To be honest, I’d rather not drink my calories if I had the choice. It wasn’t until recently that I had even tried juice that didn’t come from a carton at the grocery store. I did my first juice cleanse back in June with my first experience with fresh pressed juice. I was pleasantly surprised that there was more to juice than just OJ with pulp….ewwww.
Recently, Alive Juices in the DC area contacted me to see if I was interested in trying their juices, so I said yes!
I really liked the story of how Alive Juices came about. The founder, Rachan, started pressing juices after his father had a stroke and was getting terrible nutritional care in the hospital. They started giving him fresh, Ayurveda based juices and he recovered within a few months. After seeing the amazing results, Rachan decided he wanted to share his juices with the rest of the community.
Their juicing methodology is based on the ancient Indian medicine called Ajurveda. They use all organic produce and are made to order! Their prepping methodology combines Ayurvedic principles with nutritional research. “We bring you nutrition powerhouses (herbs, spices, Ayurvedic fruits etc.) and we combine foods that work in synergy with one another. This makes Alive Juices a whole that’s more than just the sum of its parts!”
So, one Thursday afternoon there was a knock at my door. A young man was delivering my fresh juice. Did I mention that delivery is FREE??! *Please note I was provided with 4 different juices in exchange for a review on the blog. As always opinions expressed are my own.*
Alive Juices come in 8 flavors. Each flavor has unique health benefits (heart, bones, vision, protection against cancers etc), and each flavor contains different produce, but they all have Big 4 – Apples, Ginger, Garlic and Lemon. These are well known disease fighters that help to keep us healthy.
I was provided 4 juices:
#1- Positive Karma : Apples, Ginger, Garlic, Lemon, cucumber, celery, cilantro and spinach
#4 Detox Mantra: Apples, Ginger, Garlic, Lemon, carrots, beet, kale, cilantro
#5 Guru’s green: Apples, Ginger, Garlic, Lemon, romaine lettuce, bok choy, collards and fennel
#8 Morning Sunshine: Apples, Ginger, Garlic, Lemon, squash, cilantro, pineapple
The delivery also came with a bag of mixed nuts and seeds to help absorb fat soluble vitamins and a bag of herbs with the instructions to mix a pinch into every juice.
Ok, so the bottom line. The juices were delicious. Even the green juices that I have a hard time getting down went down easily. Now I can’t say that I want to drink them every day, but as far as taste goes, they were top notch. I have a sweet tooth, so of course the sweeter one was my favorite, #8 the Morning Sunshine. You can also have your juice made with no fruit if you request. I thought the nuts and spices were also a very unique touch!
I definitely enjoyed Alive Juices! They have a bunch of different juice plans and pricing and delivery is FREE for the Metro DC/Baltimore area! Which is a definite plus especially for those hard working families out there! If you are in the DC area definitely check out Alive Juices on Twitter and Facebook!
