My weekly recap from last week is a bit late, but you’ll find out why later…Last week was a GREAT workout and eating week for me despite the holiday. I love Thanksgiving but I’m not a huge eater on Thanksgiving. I like to take small tastes of ALL of the sides and some turkey…it’s the desserts that get me. Anyway, here is a little look….
Monday: Went to my Orangetheory class. No treadmill work this day but we did row 3000 meters & 300 reps of different core exercises. Yea, my abs hurt.
Tuesday: full rest
Wednesday: T25 Core
Thursday: My very first workout on Thanksgiving!! Can you believe that? We always host and are on a VERY tight regimented schedule and time for working out is usually not allotted In fact this was the first time in 8 years we haven’t hosted! This year we were invited to a friends house which meant no cooking for me except for a few dishes to bring with me. So that meant I got to workout!! I hit up a spin class at Swet Ride! I must say it felt so good to do that before our Thanksgiving dinner, made me feel just a little less guilty about stuffing my face with dessert and ALL the sides.
Friday: Orangetheory class! I had to do my cardio on the “strider” due to my hip flexor issue….I’m not a fan. Holy boring batman. The “strider” as they call it is basically an elliptical. I was so jealous of everyone on the treadmill!! It was extremely difficult for me to get in the orange zone with that. Floor work consisted of 3 rounds of pulsing squats, mountain climbers (speaking of mountain climbers, someone in my running group pointed this ARTICLE out which says mountain climbers are a waste of time which I thought was interesting), dead lifts, weighted lunge with bicep curl, weighted lunge (opposite leg) with upright row , bicycle crunch and an 800m row. In between the 2nd round was a 600m row, and after the 3rd round an 400m row.
I have to say, I’m actually liking the rowing which I was surprised by, but I did expect to feel like I was getting an upper body workout which I haven’t felt like at all…maybe I’m doing it wrong?
Friday night I started to feel a little “off”. I wasn’t sure what was going on, I remember telling my husband that I felt a little depressed and just “blah” but couldn’t figure out why……until THIS happened…
Yea, let’s just say this lasted all day Saturday, and into Sunday. I was in bed all day Saturday and unfortunately had to call in sick to work on Saturday night. Sunday I woke up and still had the same fever, so once again spent my entire day in bed. I was panicking a little because Mini #1 kept telling Mini #2 that it was his birthday the next day and that he was getting a cake. Well, that was true, but I was supposed to make it. Ummm, yea. My fever was so high I was in no shape to do anything. Around 3pm I started wondering if this could possibly be the flu. I went online searching for an urgent care close by to go to to rule it out (you can only take Tamiflu within 48 hours of symptoms if it is indeed the flu). I hopped in the car and showed up at the urgent care 30 minutes before they closed. Thankfully, they tested me for the flu and it was indeed negative, like I thought, but I wanted to make sure. I went home, took some ibuprofen and hoped I could get my temp down low enough to feel ok to make a cake.
I grabbed a few face masks from urgent care and got ready to bake with my awesome Project Repat blanket wrapped around me!
I saw everyone’s posts about being Supermom for even attempting this while I was sick. Ya’ll know how I feel about that term but I appreciate the compliment. I’m not sure why I have such a negative connotation associated with that word. I am far from a supermom….if it wasn’t for Mini #1 telling him it was his birthday, I would most definitely have put it off, but I felt like I couldn’t let the guy down at that point. You gotta do what you gotta do, the Mama Bear kicked in! If there is one thing the boys look forward to….it’s their birthday cakes. I have a history of going all out here, here, here, and here, so I’ve kind of made my own bed…..(I’m way better at making cupcakes…definitely a cake amateur, but I like to play).
And it was all worth it for THIS face He was SO excited to see this little minion!
Well, it’s now Tuesday night as I type this and my fever is gone, but I have exchanged it for a pretty nasty cough that has already caused me to pull some muscles in my lower back from coughing so much. I’ve had to “sleep” on the couch so I don’t keep my husband awake all night with the coughing. I’ve cancelled my spin and orangetheory class so far this week. I’m supposed to be running a 5K on Sunday, but I doubt that will be happening either. I’m just going to rest and listen to my body…when it’s ready to get back into it, it will tell me!

So next week is the start of 2 full weeks of Christmas Giveaways!! You do NOT want to miss out. Some of the amazing companies I have worked with in the past have decided to donate their products to make this possible! So I probably won’t be posting any training recaps until it’s over…hopefully I’ll have gotten over this nasty virus I’ve got and will have made some progress in my challenge to share with you!
