Here we are again…my LAST training recap, well, my last one until Paris Marathon training starts…eek! I can’t believe MCM is now only 6 days away!! I’ve really been handling the extra taper better than I thought. I’ve still been staying somewhat active, although not as active as I would have liked due to other circumstances, so here goes….
Monday: I worked Sunday night so I slept 3/4 of the day away. A whole lot of nothin’. After I work night shift my body clock is so messed up, I feel like a zombie the rest of the day. I can barely walk straight, let alone workout.
Tuesday: I have no excuse here, just was lazy…..a whole lot of nothin’.
Wednesday: I’ve still been having this dull ache in my hip, so I made a trip into my chiropractor who seriously is amazing…I think I say that all of the time, but I’m serious. He rocks. If you are local, go check out Dr. Josh Alvarado. He is a miracle worker. We did a lot of soft tissue work and the usual…ultrasound, laser, trigger point release, adjustment, and stim. If you read my Friday 5 post, you saw my new strategy for keeping myself accountable for my exercises that Dr. Josh said I needed to do religiously to strengthen these pathetic glutes…
I have added a few more on there….clam shells and leg lifts….and I’ve actually been doing them!
Thursday: I was feeling rather ambitious this day. I had been missing my spin classes so I hit up spin at Revolve. A few hours after that I decided to go to yoga…I admit, I went for the 2 hours of daycare and the 10 minute Shavasana at the end. Mini #2 has been a challenge lately, so a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. That afternoon I picked up Mini #1 from school and wouldn’t you know….Yep, our first missing tooth. We knew it was loose, but apparently it fell out at school. Luckily the tooth was found and the school nurse put it in a cute little tooth necklace to keep it safe to bring home. The tooth fairy made her first of many appearances! I’m kind of sad I must say…I feel like this is the first step to really being a big boy!
I followed all of that up in the evening with a thai yoga massage. If you haven’t had one of these, you need to. NOW.
Alter G The plan was to get in a run on the Alter G and see Dr. Josh, but wouldn’t you know…Mini #1 came down with a 102 fever in the middle of the night. So, no school for him. He was absolutely pathetic, which meant no Alter G and chiro for me. Boo. Ahhh, The trials and tribulations of being a #motherrunner. And I can not tell a lie, we made a trip to CVS to stock up on ALL of the immune boosting supplements I could get my hands on…I WILL NOT GET SICK!! Part of the taper psychosis involves imagining all the little aches and pains that you have never experienced before…well, the same goes for symptoms of being sick. I will barely touch my kids with a 1o foot pole this week. Gloves must be worn at all times, along with a face mask. I need to be wearing the PPE that is required for Ebola really….
Saturday: I was supposed to work nights, but got a call from the hospital asking if I could work days instead, they were desperate, so I went into work. As much as I hate working night shift, I honestly think I like it more than days!! I went for 8 hours without eating because I was so freaking busy. My head was pounding and I was so dehydrated it wasn’t even funny. At least working nights I can typically eat on a regular basis to avoid that! No workout for me here either….got home at 8pm completely ravenous and exhausted.
Sunday: I got my exercises in….squats, lunges, clamshells and leg lifts? CHECK. But that’s about it. Does carrying 2- 12 lb pumpkins and wrangling 2 kids by myself at the pumpkin patch count as exercise, because if not….it should!
We went to this great pumpkin patch in Bluemont, VA, Great Country Farms. It was quite a drive for us, but definitely worth it!
Well, there you have it. I’m in the final countdown….I plan on hitting the Alter G THIS week, having a few visits with Dr Josh, and a massage thrown in there as well…and then off to the MCM Expo on Friday! Mini #2 will be running the MCM Kids Dash on Saturday, so we are excited for that as well! Hope everyone had a great week!!
