Back in January I listed out my goals for the year. You can read about them here. Some of them were pretty lofty, and some of them were reasonable. Well, for this week’s Friday 5 with the DC Trifecta Cynthia, Mar and Courtney, they asked to update everyone on their goals for this year. So I’m going to revisit some of them and give you a little status update!
Run 1000 miles this year ( I came up about 200 shy last year).
Status: 391 miles so far. I really got off track due to my calf injury unfortunately, so not sure that I’m going to be able to hit this again this year even with marathon training which is really a HUGE bummer.

Status: So far i’ve completed 9 races this year! Which means I only have 5 to go. I’m registered for the 9/11 Memorial 5K, Air Force/Navy Half Marathon, Army 10 Miler, and Marine Corp Marathon. It shouldn’t be hard to pick up a few more though. I should meet this goal ! Yahoo!! And I just realized that all of my races are military related!
1:50 Half Marathon
CHECK! Achieved this goal at the Yuengling Shamrock Half Marathon in March!! It was a great race and a horrible one at the same time….it was a great recap, you really need to check it out here.
Focus on core and strength training.
I’ll be honest, I’m not consistent with this. I get in the swing and then it seems to fall to the wayside for some reason. I’ve been doing well with cross training i.e. spin, barre, bodypump, but I still suck at consistent core work. And I know how important it is too which is the kicker. Why can’t I stick with it????
Be more patient with my boys.
This is always a work in progress. I have good days and bad. I have to remind myself on a daily basis that they are 5 and 2 and are NOT adults and therefore I shouldn’t expect them to act like adults. It is really HARD to raise young children. It is mentally and physically exhausting and this will remain a challenge for me for the forseeable future I’m sure. But I’m ALWAYS striving to be a better mom. And despite what this picture says, I STILL don’t think I am Supermom.
So there they are!
How are you doing with the goals you set for yourself so far?
Are your goals lofty or achievable?
