|This was only HALF of the organ. It took up both sides of an enormous wall!|
|Had a proud mama moment when my 2 year old pointed to the statue and said “George Washington”|
I got in 3 runs this week. I’m still keeping my mileage low per the PT and my chiropractor. So run #1 was 3 miles. It felt great and I had no pain. But like a good girl, I was proactive and iced and rolled immediately after the run!
I went to my first spin class at Revolve DC. I’ve done spin before at my gym but have been kind of bored. I felt like a studio that specialized in spinning might be more up my alley. I had heard great things about this studio so when they had a big sale I decided to check it out. I met up with Courteney from Running with Perseverance. Totally LOVED this class. The instructor was great and the music was great. I worked my tail off. They make you wear clip ins on the bikes and I had NO idea what a difference that makes in your workout. I had never felt a burn like that in my legs before from spinning. I can’t wait to go back!
Run #2 was 3.75 miles. Again, it felt good without pain, it’s usually the after that is the problem. My chiropractor suggested I do stim at home, so that’s what I did! I still saw him 3 times this week for some more ultrasound, soft tissue work (Graston) and laser work. I can’t even tell you the difference that all of this has made in my calf.
Rest day for me and the boys wanted to get outside, so we took the sidewalk chalk out and did some drawing……it looked like a crime scene with all of the outlines.
Mini cupcake #1 wanted to trace me “running”…so this is what ensued…
The final product…and it was HIS idea to get the Swirlgear on there!
Apparently me sitting here supervising was the inspiration for the drawings..
I even baked this week for the first time in a while!!
I had a fabulous Mother’s day that started off with breakfast in bed (which if you can believe it I had NEVER had before)! We headed to swimming lessons and then to National Harbor in Maryland. They have a great carousel and playground that is fenced in for the kiddos, so we headed over there as a family! We had a great time!!
I came home and went for Run #3…5 miles. It was a gorgeous day, but I have to say that I’m not used to doing my runs at 3pm and 80 degrees. I was not well hydrated at all and the run itself was a bit of a struggle. My calf had some twinges, but no pain, just tightness…so I’ll consider that a success.
Sporting my Colorado Headsweats visor…giving a shout out to all of my Colorado buddies! Miss you guys!
And probably the highlight of my run…running the last tenth of a mile with Mini Cupcake #1. We’ve definitely got some work to do as he started complaining of his “hip” hurting about .05 miles into the “run”….I later figured out that his hip means he had a side stitch. It came on very quickly, so I’ll need to figure out how we can get him running without the side stitches. Not convinced he’s ready for the cross country team yet.
Up this week….hopefully some more runs to try and increase my mileage. Will probably go for another 5 on Tuesday. I’ll actually be trying out the Alter G (anti-gravity) treadmill at the Endurance Athlete Center! They were offereing a special to try an hour for free. I’ve heard great things about it. Can’t wait to tell you how it is!! If that feels good, then increase to 6 and then 7 or 8 depending on how it all goes! Fingers crossed!!
How was your weekend??
How did YOU spend Mother’s day??
