I’ve kind of fell to the wayside with my weekly recaps. I really enjoy writing them and feel like I got a bit discombobulated with the two weeks of giveaway blogs, so I’m hoping to get back to what I was writing about before!!
The Yuengling Shamrock Half Marathon is coming up this weekend!! I’m super excited. First, I’ve never been to Virginia Beach, although I won’t get to spend too much time down there, I’m excited to go with my training buddy. We have been really working our butt off this training cycle using the Run Less Run Faster plan. I am truly amazed the difference having 3 QUALITY runs makes over just running fluff miles. My speed has GREATLY improved which is awesome, that just means I’m one step closer to that ultimate goal of a BQ..
Here is my recap:
Monday–rest day after the Reston 10 Miler (recap coming soon)
Tuesday–Tempo run, 2 mi easy, 3 miles ST (short tempo pace, 7:53), 1 mi easy
Wednesday–spinning! I didn’t attend a class but my gym has these awesome spinning bikes with a TV screen that has a spinning instructor telling you exactly what to do! Rode 13 miles and followed it up with some core & arms
Thursday–speed work 1 mi warm up, 3 x 1000m repeats. I was supposed to do 5 of the repeats but started having this weird pain in my shin so I stopped. I didn’t want to take any chances.
Friday— Les Mills Bodypump, this class continues to kick my hiney (literally). Totally loving this class and plan to keep it up on a weekly basis! You know it’s good when you are sore the same night, OUCH!
Saturday— REST, worked a night shift on Friday night so slept half of the day away
Sunday–Long run! Last long run before Shamrock, a good taper run coming in at 9 miles. I was supposed to do 8, but ended up going a little too far out before turning back….ooops! It was a great day for a run outside, FINALLY. A bit windy with some serious 10-15 mph wind gusts that we had to run straight into, but we made it through. Splits: 9:06, 9:08, 8:44, 8:43, 8:37, 8:45, 8:24, 7:40. My shin is still bothering me a little but it comes and goes, not really sure what it is however which makes me a bit nervous. And can I tell you that everytime I run in DC I am moved. I still can’t believe I get to run in this amazing city!!
