It’s kind of been a wonky week filled with a whole lot of nothing in terms of working out..
However, I got some snuggles in…

And hit the park…finally was some nice weather!!!
As for running….I took 2 days off after Sunday’s Shamrock Half Marathon (if you haven’t read my recap you can read it here) to just rest, and honestly, I didn’t really have a desire to do anything. It’s funny, because I’ve done most of my training runs at a similar pace, but after this race, I feel like I got hit by a truck! I couldn’t believe how sore my body was.
This is pretty much how I felt though….
And the family was like…..
Wednesday I decided to do a quick 5 mile shake out run on the treadmill to try to get loosened up again. It actually went pretty well, although the first mile or so was pretty rough, but then I was able to pick up the pace and finish pretty strong!
My splits were: 10:22, 9:16, 8:55, 8:38, 7:57. I felt really great after the run and was really excited to get back into it. Until I woke up Thursday morning…..
I stepped out of bed and couldn’t even put any weight on my left foot! The lateral part of my foot was extremely tender. I was so confused and frustrated. What the heck had happened???
I still have no idea. It definitely felt like soft tissue, not bone, which is a good thing, but just really bizarre. I’m not sure If I had been compensating for a calf issue and was over supinating and landing on the outside of my foot?!
Maybe? I don’t know….but that’s what I’m telling myself. I rested pretty much the rest of the week. I soaked my foot in Epsom salts, stretched, ice, elevated, compressed…you name it. It’s gradually gotten better since Wednesday but is still definitely there. I was supposed to do a short 8K run with my running group on Sunday, but decided to not and give it a few more days of rest to be on the safe side.
I’m dying here…all I can think of is the races that I have coming up…I keep telling myself it’s not a big deal, it’s JUST a race and it’s not like I’m going to win the thing…which is true, but it’s still tough mentally. I’m not taking myself out of the game yet. If I miss another long run it won’t hurt me, my base mileage and fitness is still pretty high, so if I have to take a few weeks off before the 10 miler, then so be it…I can still probably crank out 10 miles, definitely not a PR, but that’s ok! Not every race has to be a PR (although that’s what we all want!).
My plan for this week? Hit bodypump today, and maybe try for a run on Wednesday and see how it feels! Here’s hoping it’s better!
